Education is Everything

I just had a moment, reading comments on social media. Someone claimed we have no problem with global warming because when ice melts in a glass of water the water level does not change. Correct. The area taken up by the melted water is where the ice had been. Ok… great… my gin and tonic will not spill over if I put it down. The person then claimed sea levels will not rise, and others followed with remarks of their huge relief. HELP…. I need a gin and tonic!

Firstly, these people are only thinking about sea levels - when food security is another thing entirely.

But, just dealing with the sea levels bit…. we all need to calmly read such remarks and answer these HUGE mistakes with patience… in order to save our planet!

I calmly mentioned that 90% of the ice in the world is in Antarctica which is ON LAND and therefore will add to the sea. Of course there are additionally all the snow-capped mountains around the world in most of our countries that will flow into the seas too. I am extremely sad about Polar Bears and other animals disappearing forever from the Arctic, but Antarctica will be what brings sea levels to rise so high that we will lose many many areas of our land.
